How to Get Blog Post Ideas

Going off of last week’s blog post, I am going to talk about another process that I struggle with while writing my blog posts. As I was searching on Social Media Examiner through their blog posts trying to come up with an idea, I thought to myself, “You know, this is a great topic in itself.” I know I am not the only one who probably gets stuck on ideas when it comes to blog posts, so I thought it would be best to write about and hopefully help you, and myself out!

Make Your Post Personal

A really easy way for me to come up with an idea on what to blog, is to look at my life and what I do. Since my blog is social media oriented, I try to figure out posts that would help me. All of my past blog posts have been personal to me. I wrote about my social media habits, running a business Instagram (based off my experience), and how to fact check (something I feel passionate about). I believe this is one of the most important thing to keep in mind. You need to be able to relate to your post so that your audience can relate to you.

Ask Your Audience

A great way to come up with some ideas for a blog post that is sure to be a hit, is to ask your readers what they want to read. This way, you know that you will be writing a post that your audience will enjoy reading. Of you do not want to straight out ask your audience what they want to read, you can always use Social Media Sentiment Analysis as a social media listening tool. This is a way to use algorithms to “listen” to what your audience feels passionate about.

Use the Web

You can use the web in a number of way to help you come up with ideas. Like I said above, a lot of the times I get ideas from similar blogs to mine. I will look at posts and wait for something that catches my eye, something personal to me. From there, I will look up other blog posts specifically about that topic to help my write my post. Another way to use the web to get ideas to to look up idea lists. This way you have a number of ideas to choose from and can even save the list for future posts.
